Hannah Pinter

Lead Instructor · Reading & Writing

Hannah leads the evidence-based reading and writing curriculum. A former classroom teacher with an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, she has spent more than fifteen years tutoring SAT and ACT students, teaching students to read critically and write with precision.

Her sessions are built the way a curriculum designer builds them: one focused objective at a time, revisited until the evidence says it is mastered.

The Curriculum

Four domains. Ten skills. Every one earned.

The digital SAT tests reading and writing across four domains. We teach each one deliberately, no skimming, no shortcuts.

Inside the Course

Drills that make it stick.

Reading and writing skills fade without deliberate practice. Every habit, reading, grammar, vocabulary, is drilled, spaced, and measured on our private platform.

Active Reading

Eight active-reading habits, five levels each, advanced only by three perfect sets in a row, plus a recall drill where the passage disappears on purpose.

Guided reading

The passage arrives five words at a time. The timer is off.

In guided mode, the passage unblurs five words at a time, at the student's own pace, with no timer. They read a chunk, connect it to what came before, and say when they can tell what the passage is about. It's focus-friendly by design: it reduces how much the student has to hold at once and makes the connection between ideas visible. Every reveal is timestamped, so the tutor can reconstruct exactly how the student moved through the text. The scaffold comes off later; the connection habit stays.

Grammar

Answering right isn't mastery, explaining why is. Every grammar pattern is named, drilled out loud, and tracked to two perfect rounds.

Grammar mastery drill

Say the reasoning out loud. Two perfect rounds to master a pattern.

Answering a grammar question right isn't mastery, being able to explain why is. In this drill the student answers, then records themselves explaining their reasoning out loud. The audio is transcribed, and AI-assisted grading checks the explanation against the authored reference process for that pattern. A score of 100 requires the right answer and every critical step of the reasoning. A pattern counts as mastered only after two 100s in a row. Audio is never stored; only the transcript.

Vocabulary

Roughly a thousand terms in five-box spaced repetition, 188 word parts, and 212 hand-authored review flows you can't skip past.

Vocabulary that sticks

Five-box spaced repetition: 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 days.

Roughly a thousand SAT terms move through a five-box spaced-repetition system. Rate a word hard and it drops back to box one, returning tomorrow; rate it easy and it jumps ahead, waiting longer each time. A word counts as mastered only in box four or higher with two consecutive easy ratings, one lucky flip is never treated as knowledge. The system brings each word back exactly when it needs another repetition.
